National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is a neighborhood crime and drug prevention event that occurs annually and is celebrated in every city, town and village in the US. In addition to increasing awareness of crime and drug prevention programs, NNO also strengthens neighborhood spirit and community-police partnerships, while sending a message to criminals that "neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime!"
This year for 2013, the DRA held it's annual NNO at the historic VFW 76th Post for the 2nd year in a row. With great sponsorship, and an awesome turn out from our residents, members and guest, the DRA was recognized with an Honorable Mention Award for 2013.
What was even better news for this year, is that San Antonio won 1st Place for National Night Out in all the United States. San Antonio had the best turn out, the best neighborhood block parties, the best organization and planning committees and over all the best support by our community compared to anywhere else. WAY TO GO SA!
We are already looking to plan our 2014 event for next year. If you are interested in volunteering or helping us plan this event, join our volunteer roster and we will contact you when the time comes!
Thank you for all those that helped in our success this year- and a VERY special  THANK YOU to our MC  Host for the 2 nd year, Ken Slavin, The Grilled Cheese Truck of San Antonio, and the VFW 76th Post for all their help and contributions.

Thank you again, and again, and again!

Downtown San Antonio comes alive during the holidays. The lights are hung in the Cypress trees with care casting flashing reflections on the river to help Santa get there. The big guy in red takes time out of his busy schedule every year to make an appearance at what has become a family-favorite, holiday tradition. Grand Hyatt San Antonio welcomes one and all, short and tall to Story Time with Santa Paws where Santa Paws reads from several children’s holiday tales. Complimentary cookies, milk, cider and coffee will be served to all two legged story time guests as well as holiday treats for their four legged friends on
Tuesday, December 10th and Tuesday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m.

The Grand Hyatt San Antonio’s family (and Fido) friendly holiday campaign is designed to make the season merry and bright, while raising awareness of their community partners and their missions - the San Antonio Humane Society, and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation. The San Antonio Humane Society will bring several adorable, adoptable puppies for the children to love on during the events. Those interested in adopting will be encouraged to visit the San Antonio Humane Society directly to learn more about the adoption process. And since there is no better time than the holidays to share the joy of reading with your family, the San Antonio Public Library Foundation will offer library card registration and enrichment program details. The Library will also offer guests a suggested holiday reading list to take home. This year, the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Hyatt Regency San Antonio, and the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa are making sure our troops enjoy the comfort of reading this holiday season. All three Hyatts are participating in Operation Paperback by collecting new and gently read books for the men and women serving in our nation’s military. Operation Paperback donors are encouraged to join us for Story Time or simply drop off at any of the three Hyatts during the month of December without leaving the comfort of their vehicles as hotel’s bell staff is at the ready to take donations. Books should be in good condition, free of tears, marks or highlights, and written for an adult reader.

It will be a joyous winter wonderland for families and pets alike as downtown’s grandest hotel is transformed with thousands upon thousands of lights, holiday decorations, and good cheer.

Congratulations!!!  It is my sincere pleasure and honor to announce that San Antonio/Bexar County were selected by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) as the 1st place award winners of the National Night Out (NNO) 2013 competition program in the Category 1: 300,000 + population.  We all know that there are many communities around the world (including Canada, U.S. Territories, and military installations around the globe) who participate in this annual event to make a difference in fighting crime and drugs, and San Antonio, Texas is just a speck in the sand from all who part take in this annual event.  We recognize the hard work that it takes to do even the smallest NNO events, so are hat off to all those who participated in this year NNO 2013 program and making this special award possible.  We also recognize the labor of our sister Cities who competed and distinguished themselves in the Category 1: 300,000 + population and we also acknowledge and congratulate them for their specific accomplishments.  We would also like to recognize one of our very own SAPD VIP members Yvonne Newton, NNO Scrapbooking Coordinator/Designer, her immaculate talents and contributions proved once again to be the spotlight for putting together and creating an overall picture of San Antonio’s Pre- NNO and NNO events.  And of course, we also need to thank our SAPD NNO Liaison Members for their personal hard work and contributions.  San Antonio, Texas is a very proud City with lots of culture and traditions, we are thankful for the 1st place award bestowed upon us and will always wear that distinction with honor, respect, and continue to be an example to others and inspire new communities to join us in the cause and provide mentorship for those that request our assistance.  Once again, Congratulations and thank you for your continued support in this national program of “fighting Crime and Drugs”.

San Antonio B-cycle will be open 24 HOURS A DAY starting July 4th, 2013!  Users can dock and undock their B-cycle any time of day, any day of the week. The change will allow our users to enjoy even earlier morning rides and later evening rides to beat the Texas heat. We hope that this will make planning a night out in San Antonio a lot easier.

We wanted to find a way to reward our annual members for being so supportive, so we are now giving our annual members UNLIMITED 1 HOUR TRIPS included in your membership. That's right folks, that's TWICE as long as day pass users that must follow the 30 minute rule. The clock starts when you undock and you can ride for up to 1 HOUR before usage fees begin to apply (still $2.00 per additional 30 minutes). We hope this provides you with a more relaxing and pleasant ride without fixating on your watch. Remember, parking B-cycles at our B-stations is the most secure and recommended way to park. This allows the bikes to be shared with the community and ensures that you are not responsible for the bike if something happens.
