National Night Out - October 7, 2014

Since 1981, the National Association of Town Watch has been promoting and organizing programs that encourage neighborhoods and local law enforcement to join together in crime prevention. National Night Out is the annual event that celebrates safety and crime prevention in communities across the country. This year, Downtown San Antonio's event will return to VFW Post 76 and is slated to be bigger than ever! Come be a part of this community-police partnership and enjoy live music, food and entertainment from businesses throughout our downtown neighborhood. Read on to get a sneak peak at some of the activities and sponsors that are scheduled for the evening. Fun starts at 6:00 PM. See you there!


Baptist Health Systems - Tammy Jo Bochat, Regional Growth Officer will be on hand at the Baptist Health booth. Come by and say hello to our Diamond Sponsor.

Paseao Del Rio - The River Walk is gearing up for the Holiday Season and there are have several events coming up in October, such as the Lucky Duck Race and Coffins on Parade. Come see how you can get involved in the fun!



USO San Antonio - Liftin
g the spirits of troops and their families right here downtown! Their facility is located at 203 West Market St. and is open Sunday - Thursday noon to 6:00 PM  and Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Amenities include a computer, a theater foom, a snack bar, pool tables, Xbox 360s, Nintendo Wiis, and even a children's area.

Hemisfair
- They will be showing off their renderings of the ongoing work with the Yannaiguana Gar

Smoke Shack Bar B Que
- Their food truck will be serving up d
elicious BBQ. Chris and Kate Congers started operating their food truck over four years ago, and now have a permanent location at 3714 Broadway St. that serves beer and wine along with their delicious food. Come hungry so you can try some of Chris and Kate's award winning Bar B Que!

Marrow Me Foundation's Jason Jox - Jason will be our celebrity MC for the evening! Our local celebrity is a San Antonio Ballet performer and actor.

Artpace - They will be showcasing their Chalk It Up event happening Saturday, October 11. Historic Houston Street will be transformed into an art canvas for the 11th year in a row! Club Sirius - A local favorite, serving up over 100 shots, daily happy hour, and great music! Our sponsor will be providing mobile sound unit and DJ mixing.

Caricature Artist Jeff Pecina
- Born and raised right here in San Antonio, freelance caricature artist, illustrator and painter will be on hand for that one of a kind family portrait! This is his second year participating with the DRA.

Saint John's Lutheran Church Academy - Located right downtown on Nueva Street, the Academy will be providing a face painting table and information about their day school. For a sneak peak about the Academy you can go to http://stjohnssa.org/day-school/.

Tuff Change Band - Our performers for the evening play a range of classic hits from the 50's to the 80's and original songs. Bring your dancing shoes!

Mopar Classic
Car Show - The group will have 3-5 classic and muscle cars on display during the event. Bring your camera and take a "selfie" with one of these beauties!
