About the Downtown Residents Association 

The San Antonio Downtown Residents Association, incorporated in 1982, continually strives to find ways to help improve the quality of life for its downtown residents. Partnering with other civic and community leaders, the DRA plays a vital role in addressing the concerns and needs of residents.

DRA is a Non Profit Corporation, IRS Code section 501{c}(4). The Officers are elected to a 2 year term; the 8 member Board of Directors, for a 3 year term.

Serving our members
The organization serves its members by:
  • Researching issues of particular significance to downtown residents and offering a forum for discussion of these subjects.
  • Voicing and directing the concerns and suggestions of downtown residents to appropriate city, county, and state officials.
  • Participating in activities designed to preserve, protect, and develop the downtown area.
  • Interacting with local officials, Downtown Alliance, Paseo del Rio Association, neighborhood organizations, historic preservation groups, et al. To develop an informed vision for the future which respects and builds on the rich multicultural heritage of the city.
  • Providing a social networking organization, Zocolocos, to encourage conversation and connection between and among members of the downtown business and residential communities.

The purposes for which the Corporation is organized are to perpetuate the social well-being of the residents living in downtown San Antonio. To preserve, protect and develop the downtown area. To provide a quality environment for living, and enjoying the multi-cultural heritage of downtown San Antonio -- past, present and future
